Presented here, another award-winning classic from the renowned Guy Lewis collection. This is a 2-owner example that was sold new at Mercedes-Benz of Coral Gables. In 2014 it was sold to its second owner, the Guy Lewis collection. While in the stewardship of this prestigious collection it underwent extensive maintenance and reconditioning to bring it to the award winning Concours level it is in today. In 2021 it received an AACA First Junior award. In 2022 it participated in the Chattanooga Motoring Festival where it won best in its class. Recently it was invited to participated in the Highlands Motoring Festival. Mr. Lewis drove it from Chattanooga to the Motoring festival through the Smokey Mountains, a 2 hour drive each way. These awards not only verify the outstanding condition of an automobile, but also its originality, pedigree, and mechanical condition.

The 190 E 2.3 -16 is a very rare car. Only imported by Mercedes-Benz for two years, these “pocket rocket” sedans have a cult like following. Most have high mileage, are heavily modified, and abused. This one is 100% original, unmodified, has had a high level of maintenance and has been lovingly maintained its entire life. Driving this car is an absolute thrill. It has that rare seat of the pants feel that most cars don't have today because they are all controlled by computer. From the shifting of its dog leg 5 speed manual transmission, to the high revving 4 cylinder, 16 valve, Cosworth Mercedes-Benz engine, this car is a thrill for the senses. It loves to be driven hard but is very smooth and docile around town.

Its overall quality defies its age. It's hard to believe this car is 37 years old. Everything works as it should and there isn't a squeak or rattle to be found. With the twist of the key, the engine fires right up, there is no smoke, and it idles smoothly with a distinctive growl from the exhaust. The Air Conditioning blows hard and cold and the engine temperature never gets above normal. The recaro style seats still have their original firmness and are so comfortable.

As expected, the paint, trim, moldings, lights, and chrome all look as they did in 1987. There is nothing to improve…The engine compartment is more impressive than the exterior. It has a high level of detail that is rarely seen. It's a work of art that its new owner will be proud to show off. Notice in the photos the high level of detail everywhere. All of the plating is beautiful and there isn't even any discoloration from the coolant tank. It's easy to understand how this car won it's AACA first place award.

The interior is just as impressive as the exterior and the engine bay. There's barely any wear on the leather. All of the wood is virtually flawless with no cracks or fading. All of the controls are equally as impressive as are the dash, the headliner, door moldings etc. Even the shifter boot looks new. As expected, there are no cracks anywhere. Everything functions as it should, and the back seats look like they have never been sat in.

The trunk is in the same condition as the rest of the car. All the moldings are beautiful with no dry rot or imperfections. The carpet looks untouched and the original Pirelli P6 spare tire is still mounted on its original rim and looks like it's never been on the ground.

In December 2019 Mercedes-Benz specialist, Buds Benz did extensive service and reconditioning. Totaling almost $9400 this 190e 2.3-16 was brought to Concours show standards. Records of this work are available upon request. At Pedigree every car we sell receives an inspection and service to get it ready for sale. Only minor work was needed to get this Mercedes ready for its next owner. To get it ready we had performed:

• Oil/Filter change
• Brake fluid service
• Replace Fog light bulb
• Replace Turn Signal bulb
• Repair wiring at fuse panel

This Mercedes is now ready for its new owner. This is an ideal car for road rallys, autocross, and concours shows. It's new owner will be proud and enjoy many fun outings with this cult classic.

At Pedigree we show cars by appointment only. To arrange your private showing contact Ken Baker at 561-866-1601.
