Presented here is not your typical 450SL. This Mercedes-Benz has had a full concours show quality restoration. To verify it's quality in January 2023 it received an AACA first junior award. For those who participate in these shows they know how hard it is to achieve this award. The trophy and documentation that goes along with it will be included with the purchase.

Coming to us from the renowned Guy Lewis collection, this 450SL is one of the finest if not the finest 1976 examples there are. Those who are familiar with this collection know that Mr. Lewis only buys the best quality cars and maintains them to the highest standards. This 450SL is no different.

In 2004/05 it received a full repaint, new top, and interior trim as well as folding rear jump seats. Its previous owner kept such meticulous notes and so thorough, we refer to its binder as the 450SL encyclopedia. Having been acquired by Mr. Lewis in 2017 he continued to maintain this car in the same fashion it's previous owner did. In the last couple years many thousands of dollars have been spent to bring this 450SL to the highest standards possible.

The result is not only a stunning example to look at but to drive as well. With one twist of the key the 4.5 liter V8 engine roars to life and idles smoothly with no smoke coming out of the rear. Every function in this car works. Every gauge in the cluster works. The air conditioning blows hard and cold, the electric antenna functions the way it should, and even the cruise control is working. Nothing has been overlooked and it is a thoroughly enjoyable driving experience. It accelerates smoothly with no hesitation, you can barely feel the transmission shift and the steering and suspension are as tight as they were 40 years ago. No detail was overlooked on the restoration and maintenance of this car.

Every car at Pedigree gets a thorough inspection and service to get it ready for sale. To get this 450 SL ready for its new owner we had performed:

• Replace washer pump clean and adjust washer nozzles
• Replace and adjust air pump belt
• Recharge air conditioning system

On the day that we photographed it, it was over 90° outside. It ran beautifully, never got hot and the air conditioning blew cold and nothing failed.
